Your teacher

Hi, I’m Emma.

I’m a figurative oil painter based in New York City. My work explores the complexities of womanhood through contemporary interpretations of classical painting — vibrant pink worlds, feminine motifs and the language of storytelling.

I’m fascinated by duality: the way power and sexuality can sit alongside beauty, softness and traditionally “girly” traits. Figures, clothing, costume and stage-like poses let me explore those sides of identity — a little like a game of dress-up.

My background in painting, art history and education taught me to look closely at both the traditions behind a painting and the choices that make it feel contemporary and personal. That’s what I love sharing: using the language of classical painting to make work that’s uniquely yours.
